Smith has become enthusiastic about bees, but it had beenn’t until she moved to California in 2008 that she had the opportunity to hold a hive of her very own. That summer time, three swarms came through the woman garden, tempting the girl buying a bee package. The bees performedn’t return, but a few months later on a pal called saying they had caught a-swarm. The woman forays as a suburban beekeeper had started.

Throughout the next couple of months, she read a numerous publications about beekeeping, saw educational video clips on YouTube and joined up with the San Diego Beekeeping community. From her mentor and working with community people, she learned hands-on just how to precisely look after bees to help them thrive.

More recently, the hillcrest Beekeeping Society has worked with all the County of hillcrest to upgrade their policies to really make it simpler for beekeepers to adhere to the ordinances.
